The Mailbox Club Begins 45th Year of Ministry

"God surely had TheMailbox Club in His

heart from all eternity,

but humanly speaking, it began in

Valdosta, Georgia, in 1965. When I

consider all the circumstances and

people God used to bring this work

into being, I can only say, ‘This is the

Lord’s doing: it is marvelous in our eyes."

Those words from George B.

Eager, Founder, in the booklet "From

Herefords to Children," the story of

The Mailbox Club, first published in

1993 still express his feelings and

those of John Mark Eager, Director,

as to God’s leading and provision

over the past 45 years.

Humble indeed were the beginnings

of The Mailbox Club ministry.

George and Laura Eager began the

ministry in the schools of South

Georgia by presenting the Gospel

story through the use of the "Wordless

Book" in assembly programs throughout

the region. It was in this setting

that this young farmer and wife found

their calling in life and dedicated

themselves to teaching children about

the Lord whenever and however they

could.

Today, the domestic and international

ministry of The Mailbox Club

is reaching millions of students each

year with the Word of God delivered

via its Christ-centered "paper missionaries,"

often in restricted countries

where traditional missionaries cannot

go. The Bible lessons are delivered to

the students in many ways, but most

effectively by the hands of volunteers

who mentor the students on a one-onone

basis. This model, used mostly

overseas, provides the most effective

results with conversion rates of 40%

or more in most countries. Last year,

for example, 963,172 of the 2,307,199

students who completed just one

course accepted Christ as their Savior.

The vast majority of these salvations

came from our international students.

Mr. George never imagined the

international impact The Mailbox

Club would have, but God did. Last

year, God allowed us to work in 96

countries around the world providing

over 35.5 million lessons to students

in their own language. How is this

possible you might ask? It is only

possible through God’s great blessings

and the work of countless volunteers,

partners and supporters around

the world. First, a network of volunteers

is developed by our ministry

missionaries working with

Evangelical churches around the

world. Our Bible lessons are then distributed

by these volunteers working

with many wonderful ministries such

as Operation Christmas Child, Child

Evangelism Fellowship, Jesus Film,

Source of Light, Billy Graham

Evangelistic Assoc., American Bible

Society and other such Mission organizations

in an effort to disciple children

and adults and to bring them to

the Lord.

The Mailbox Club currently offers

21 courses to our U.S. students from

4 years of age through adulthood.

Internationally we have authorized the

translation of our courses in over 140

languages. All the courses are offered

free of charge to individuals wishing

to study God’s Word. Learners may

sign up for printed English and

Spanish courses on our web site or by

contacting our ministry office in

Valdosta at 229-244-6812. We also

offer all our children’s courses online

at www.maiboxclubonline.org.

Ministries or individuals wishing

to start their own "mailbox club" may

purchase our courses and support

materials directly from our Mail

Order department at 1-800-488-5226.

The major emphasis of The

Mailbox Club is, as it was in the

beginning, on children. In the words

of John Mark Eager, it is our passion

to "sow the seed" of God’s Word into

the lives of millions of children

around the world. We do this because

God told us to, because children are

the most unreached people group in

the world, because they are the most

fruitful harvest field, and because,

when won to Christ and properly discipled,

they become great soul winners.

In addition, we receive countless

testimonies from students, teachers

and parents telling us how the lessons

have made a major impact on their

life or that of their children or students.

Current and former students

are encouraged to send us their personal

testimony by mail at 404 Eager

Rd. Valdosta, GA or by email at

email@mailboxclub.org. Here are

just a few testimonies we recently

received:

"I grew up in a Christian home and I

learned many Bible verses. But they

were all meaningless until a friend

sent me a Mailbox Club lesson. After

a few lessons I asked the Lord to be

my Savior."

Amanda, 12, Indiana,USA

"I have been an orphan and I live

with my uncle but they treat me badly.

I am not worried because I always

ask God to give me peace and He

does. I am still praying to God to

change their hearts through the way I

behave at home. I know God has a

purpose for my life even though these

times are difficult."

Grace, 12,Malawi

"I am a sinner. I didn’t know Jesus as

my personal Savior. I was privileged

to attend the Mailbox Club lessons. I

learnt that only the blood of Jesus

could save me. I acknowledged my

sins and asked the Lord to forgive me.

Now, Jesus lives in my heart as my

personal Lord and Savior. I thank

God for opening my eyes to see His

Salvation."

Ndiguina, Chad

"The truth is that when they started

teaching us with these Bible lessons I

just wanted to read them and fill out

the activities pages so I would get my

certificate quickly. But as I went on

reading each lesson I realized that it

wouldn’t matter if I got a certificate

or not, because the important thing is

that I learned more about God and to

love and respect my parents and to

share God’s Word with other people. I

think this is the most important

thing."

Tatiana, 9, Ecuador
