Christ Chapel’s Men’s Ministry Honors Area First Responders at July 4 Breakfast

by
Barbara Fatkin

The Men's Ministry of Christ Chapel in Warner Robins is inviting the public to participate in their July 4 Men's Breakfast, a community-wide tribute to area military service members, police officers, firefighters, and paramedic/EMTs. Tommy Neiman, author of Sirens for the Cross and founder of a ministry for first responders, will be the special guest speaker at the breakfast. Neiman, a nationally known speaker, serves as a firefighter/ paramedic in Fort Pierce, Florida, and also as the department's chaplain and as a regional director for the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters. He was one of 12 firefighter chaplains asked to give out urns to families of victims of 9-11.

The Men's Ministry at Christ Chapel will provide a free breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, and grits to all who attend. Each first responder or emergency worker will receive a free copy of Neiman's book.

The July 4th event will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 10 a.m. Greg Fetz, a firefighter from Warner Robins, will provide the musical entertainment.

Last year, the Men's Ministry hosted the first annual tribute to first responders in the Middle Georgia community, and 125 people participated in the breakfast event.

"Last year we just invited men. This year, we're including the whole family. July 4 is a great day for families to come out and enjoy a patriotic program. This is a morning activity and it's free. The patriotic breakfast was well received last year. Firefighters brought their trucks, and law enforcement officers brought their police cars. This year's event is open to all who want to attend and give honor to the local military, law enforcement, and firefighters," said Terry Theus, organizer of Christ Chapel's Men's Breakfasts.

"Scripture tells us to give honor where honor is due. This July 4 breakfast event is a small token of the gratitude for what these first responders are doing for this community and for our country. We want everyone to come out and help us to honor them. It's also an opportunity to invite friends and have the gospel message clearly presented in a non-threatening atmosphere," Theus added.

Christ Chapel's monthly Men's Breakfasts have been held for almost two years at the Warner Robin's location as a way to create a sense of unity in the Christian community by breaking down denominational barriers.

"We want to give our Pastors John Woods and Andy King the credit for instilling a passion for lost souls in us," Theus said.

Andy King, Pastor of Christ Chapel Warner Robins, said, "I'm excited about the involvement of other churches in our community in the Men's Breakfast. It's not just this church. It's been our heart to see walls come down that separate the body of Christ. In a span of almost two years, I've spoken once, and we've had over 16 speakers. Our purpose isn't to build this church, it's to build the Kingdom. We prepare the breakfast and we set it up, but 90 percent of the time another pastor comes in and leads worship." Christ Chapel Warner Robins is located at 2288 Moody Road.
